Join Solos as we head to the Balearic Island of Mallorca for this walking holiday, discovering the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range which forms the backbone of Mallorca. We have four guided walks included in the itinerary, where we will witness the beauty of Mallorca’s stunning coasts, beaches, whilst also experiencing pretty and traditional hilltop towns and villages, medieval old postal routes and wooden trains to name a few.
Today we arrive into Mallorca and transfer to the Reverence Life four-star hotel in Santa Ponsa.
After breakfast, we transfer to the picturesque mountain-coast village of Deiá. We begin this scenic circular walk from the centre of Deiá, walking through the streets and exploring the area – home to English poet Robert Graves. We also visit the local church, amphitheatre and square before continuing our descent down to Cala Deiá. Cala Deiá is a tiny, picturesque cove beach, made up mostly of small pebbles and large rocks. On this route, we can enjoy many view points to photograph and admire the fantastic scenery. We will continue back to Deiá via another route.

Today we transfer to the mountain village of Esporles, a pretty village that retains much of its original charm, with typical stone faced houses and winding streets. Here we begin the popular hiking ‘Old Postman’s Route’.
The Camí Des Correu (Post Road) is the royal road with medieval roots dating to 1401, and connects Esporles with Banyalbufar. Until the 19th Century, this public path was the only means of communication between the two towns and, from there, with Palma. But after the current road between Esporles and Banyalbufar was inaugurated, the path was abandoned. The Consell de Mallorca restored it in 1999 and included it in the path network of the Ruta de Piedra en Seco.
The route runs through holm oak forests and has wonderful views of the Serra de Tramuntana coast.

Maximum Altitude: 447m
Minimum Altitude: 103 m
We spend today however we wish. We can kick back and relax at the hotel, making use of its facilities, such as its pools, bars or even the wellness and spa area. The sandy beach of Santa Ponsa is a short walk away, or we can explore the city of Palma, known as the ‘pearl of the Mediterranean,’ which is 20km away and is perfect for a day trip. The capital of the island boasts the huge Santa María Cathedral, a Gothic landmark from the 13th Century which overlooks the Bay of Palma.
This morning, we transfer to the hilltop village of Valldemossa. From there, we begin a small circular route taking us to the Hermitage of Valldemossa. We see the ruins of the ‘ermites velles’ chapel and cross several oak forests. Whilst walking, we’ll find numerous remains of different typical constructions of old professions linked to the rural world in the Serra de Tramuntana, such as lime kilns or coal bunkers. This walk is a route through the trades of the forest.

Today we have another day at leisure. The choice is ours on how we wish to spend it, either relaxing or exploring the local area further.
We begin the day with breakfast before heading to the outskirts of Deiá. Today’s beautiful walk begins on the outside of the village, walking to the beautiful old traditional town of Soller. On this walk, we witness some fabulous viewpoints of the coast and Soller itself.
We can also enjoy some free time in Soller, which sits in the heart of the ‘valley of oranges’. The main square – Plaza de la Constitución – is Soller’s beating heart, which is lined with numerous bars and cafés. We board a wooden train, known locally as the ‘Orange Express’, for a scenic journey down to Palma.

Level of difficulty: Medium
Maximum Altitude: 288m
Minimum Altitude: 38 m
Today we enjoy our final breakfast at the hotel, before transferring to the airport for our flight home.
Close to the heart of Santa Ponsa, the Zafiro Rey Don Jaime is the perfect location for our active trip. Boasting an adults-only sky pool on the rooftop, it offers spectacular views and breathtaking sunsets.
The hotel has two bars, including a lounge bar and a pool bar serving a range of local and international drinks. Two restaurants, a buffet and an à la carte restaurant. There are two outdoor pools, including the one adult only pool, and an indoor pool.
Our rooms are double room for single use with balcony and have air conditioning, safe, kettle, TV and a fridge.
From Palma de Mallorca Airport to the Reverence Life Hotel, it is roughly 25 minutes depending on traffic.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit and well enough to take part in your chosen activity holiday. If you are unsure as to whether the walks are within your capabilities, please contact the office to discuss this matter, thus making sure you appreciate the terrain that you will be walking.
You could be walking across uneven ground in some areas and extreme care must be taken, especially if wet. If used to using a pole/stick, it is advisable to bring it. Please appreciate the route and content of the holiday may change at the time and at the discretion of the guide/organiser, should conditions require. Solo’s Holidays cannot be held responsible for personal injury, accident or damage to property whilst on these walks other than incidents arising out of the company’s negligence. The guide has the right to refuse to guide a walk with anyone not properly attired.
It is of paramount importance that you have the correct footwear. It is essential to wear walking boots that are comfortable and preferably lightweight, with some ankle support and a good grip. If you already have a pair of boots that you are happy walking in (including during hot/wet weather and on hard ground), then bring these along. However, if you are bringing new footwear, do make sure they are well broken in before you arrive. Experience has shown that wearing 2 pairs of woollen socks adds to comfort. Whilst we would hope for good weather during your holiday, it is of course impossible to guarantee this. We would therefore recommend you travel with clothing suitable for all conditions, and suggest you use the following checklist as a guideline of what to take:
We suggest a Group Collection to cover transfer drivers, and hotel staff of €20.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate percentage on.
