Extras
On arrival in New York, we transfer to our hotel for check-in. This evening, we start our Solos holiday in style with a welcome drink, before heading out for dinner in a nearby restaurant.
This morning, take a guided tour of Manhattan in the comfort of an air-conditioned minibus. We discover the iconic Times Square, journey down Fifth Avenue and marvel at St Pauls Cathedral, the Rockefeller Centre & the Flatiron Building. Next, we head to the Grand Central Station, for an interior tour of its history and design, before spending the afternoon at Bryant Park exploring its Christmas Markets. Here we’ll have time to indulge in some Christmas shopping, enjoy some delicious food or strap on a pair of ice skates! Later this afternoon, we’ll journey upwards and take a trip to the 86th floor observation deck of the famous Empire State Building and admire the city lights from above with 360 degree views.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our morning with a walk along the High Line – an historic raised rail line converted to a green oasis for the public to enjoy. It offers magnificent views in the heart of the meatpacking district, as well as art installations and beautiful gardens. Our next stop today is a neighbourhood tour of Greenwich Village, Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown. We’ll then head out on a walking tour of the Financial District and the renowned Wall Street, with stops at the Merril Lynch Bull, Trinity Church and the 9/11 Memorial, before returning to our hotel.
This morning, we get the chance to experience a gospel service and discover Harlem’s vibrant streets. We’ll see the impressive Saint John the Divine Cathedral and Apollo Theatre, topping the morning off with a soul food brunch.
Next, we’ll visit Central Park. The oldest public park in the United States, it’s also the most popular, with over 42 million visitors a year. We travel through the famous Strawberry Fields, see Belvedere Castle and pass Dakota Apartments, where John Lennon was assassinated.
The rest of the day can be enjoyed at our leisure, before we meet this evening for our farewell dinner.
We’ll spend our final morning in New York at leisure, before our transfer takes us to the airport for our return flight home.
The Sanctuary Hotel is located in the heart of Times Square, making it an excellent base for exploring the city’s attractions.

November in New York definitely requires layers, layers and more layers! We’d recommend a coat, and comfortable walking shoes this time of year.
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.
The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff of approximately $60. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.
