Gran Canaria has long been a favourite holiday destination for our groups of solo travellers. With its swathes of sandy beaches, clear Atlantic waters and resorts to suit all tastes, why not join us and discover it for yourself? We stay in the lively tourist resort of Playa del Ingles, on the south part of the island. With a combination of modern coastal resorts and picturesque towns drenched in history, this popular destination is one you’ll want to return to year after year.
Extras
Gran Canaria’s never-ending appeal begins with its beaches. Our hotel is located in the larger-than-life coastal resort of Playa del Ingles – on the southernmost tip of the island. The resort boasts 3km of stunning white sand and we can take part in an array of water sports that are on offer on the beach. The resort’s 2km promenade is packed with bars, restaurants, pubs and shops – all to keep us entertained for the week!
Enjoying an all inclusive basis, why not get a couple of cooling cocktails from the bar, grab a sun-lounger and soak up the rays by the hotel’s swimming pool? When we’re feeling peckish, we have a number of food options to tempt us. Alternatively, the nearest beach is just 15 minutes away; with the hotel providing a free shuttle to the beach several times a day.
Playa del Ingles is famous for its extravagant nightlife, it’s impossible to get bored here. There are hundreds of bars, clubs, and discos open until the early hours of the morning that cater for all tastes. For a more laid-back evening, we can go to the city of Las Palmas where we can find the Casino Las Palmas if we fancy a flutter. Or we can head to the stylish and chic area of Meloneras, where there are numerous bars and cafes. There are plenty of places to explore on this beautiful island to watch the sunset whilst enjoying a local tipple.
If we are in the mood for some shopping, there is a shopping centre a mere 300 meters away. In the capital of Las Palmas, we can visit the Canary Museum. Here we can learn more about Christopher Columbus’s journey through the city on his voyage to America. The Cathedral of Las Palmas is also worth a visit. Built almost 600 years ago, it has a gothic interior and an imposing neoclassical facade. If we head to the quieter area of Maspalomas, we will find a longer yet quieter beach that the one in Playa Del Ingles. Here, we will also discover the famous 400 hectares of Saharan-sized dunes!
Our hotel is ideally located just 15 minutes from the beach and 300 meters from the shopping centre. Its prime location allows us to enjoy the bars, shops, leisure areas, restaurants and the attractive nightlife.
Facilities include a buffet restaurant, pool bar, terrace bar, snack bar, swimming pool, daily entertainment and free Wi-Fi.
Rooms come with air conditioning, satellite TV, hair dryer, direct line telephone, safe (additional cost), mini bar (additional cost) and a terrace/balcony.

There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.
Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €25.00 per week. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
Casual, cotton, lightweight daytime wear is the order of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must for sightseeing. Smart casual clothes will be ideal for the evening, with the emphasis throughout being informal but with no shorts or vests in the restaurants in the evenings. Evenings can be cooler so do ensure that you take a cardigan or jacket and even some rainwear.
