Due to the island’s large size, it is one of the most diverse countries of the Caribbean! Along the coast you can choose from a whole catalogue of beaches whilst inland mountain peaks, waterfalls and mangrove lagoons await to be explored.
Discover the rum factories and the old quarter in the Puerto Plata region or take a cable car up to Mount Isabel del Torres. Close by, you will find the casinos and lively square of Playa Dorada where you can enjoy a beverage with your single traveller companions. The place to go for long stretches of sand and barefoot beach bars is Costa Dorada or Bahia Maimon; meanwhile Puerto Plata is the gateway to the Samana peninsula. The Samana peninsula hosts sleepy resorts and footprint-free beaches!
