In the capital, Las Palmas, take a trip to see the Canary Museum where you can learn about Christopher Columbus’s journey through this extraordinary city during his voyage to America. Also worth a visit is the city’s cathedral. Built over 600 years ago, the Cathedral of Las Palmas has a gothic interior design and an imposing neoclassical facade. Alternately, single travellers can discover the famous 400 hectares of Saharan-sized dunes in Maspalomas that is located not too far away from the capital.
